Senior Housing

MHA manages 268 state funded units for elderly and/or disabled residents spread over 5 developments. Residents pay rent based on 30% of their monthly income and includes all utilities. These properties are located by MHA’s main office at 24 Mystic Street in Methuen.

  • 36 Oakland Ave – The Oakland Avenue Elderly development consists of 5 two-story brick buildings built in 1959. There are a total of 40 one-bedroom units as well as a community building and laundry.
  • 75 Edgewood Ave – The Edgewood Avenue Elderly development consists of 8 two-story brick buildings with a total of 64 one-bedroom units. This development was completed in 1962 and shares the community building.
  • 22 & 24 Mystic Street – 22 Mystic Street and 24 Mystic Street Elderly developments were completed in 1974 and 1968, respectively. Each is comprised of 72 one-bedroom units spread across 9 two-story brick buildings. They also share a community room.
  • 101 Broadway – Our Congregate-Elderly development located at 101 Broadway offers a total of 41 units, including 20 non-congregate units, in a three-story low-rise building sitting on approx. 1 acre. MHA congregate housing units includes a private bedroom, half bath and modest kitchenette. Showers and living space are shared amongst residents.

State Family Housing

For Households needing 2 or more bedrooms. MHA manages 82 state funded units with 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedrooms, located throughout several developments in Methuen. Residents pay rent based on 27% of their monthly income and are responsible for paying for gas and electricity.

  • JFK Family Housing – The JFK Village, built in 1950, is comprised of 15 low-rise buildings with a total of 60 two-story Townhouse units with 1 - 5 bedrooms, shared green space and off-street parking on approx. 2 acres.
  • 601 Lowell Boulevard – Comprised of 4 two-story wood-framed duplex houses and 4 one-story wood-framed houses on about 1 acre for a total of 16 units. This development was completed in 1988 and sits across from the Merrimack River in Southwest Methuen.
  • Riverview Boulevard – MHA owns 4 two-bedroom townhouse/garden style units at Prides Crossing Condos. Built in the 1990s, situated along the Merrimack River in East Methuen, the development offers a community pool and off-street parking.
  • 19 Mystic Street – This Duplex, built in 1989, offers 2 three-bedroom units and off-street parking. Located across the street from MHA’s main office.

Federal Family Housing

42 Federally funded 2 and 3-bedroom units. Residents pay rent based on 30% of their monthly income and are responsible for all utilities.

  • 25 Jade Street – Built in 1988, Jade Street is made up of 5 Townhouse style buildings tucked away off Pelham Street in Marsh Corner, housing 42 units with two or three bedrooms. There is a community basketball court and off-street parking for residents.
Jade Street waitlist is currently closed and cannot accept applications at this time.

Congregate Housing

Shared/group housing operated in conjunction with Agespan, where a resident shares common spaces, such as a kitchen, living area, and bathroom, with other residents. All units for single people needing supportive services.

  • 101 Broadway – Our Congregate-Elderly development located at 101 Broadway offers a total of 41 units, including 21 congregate units, in a three-story low-rise building sitting on approx. 1 acre. MHA congregate housing units includes a private bedroom, half bath and modest kitchenette. Showers and living space are shared amongst residents.

Group Homes

Independently managed and operated by a third party, MHA maintains several group homes across Methuen. These buildings provide supportive services to individuals with mental health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and behavioral health challenges.
